Philosophy and Goals

Philosophy

It is the belief of the Altoona Area School District that the best possible educational program be provided to all students. We also understand that the most effective learning experience may not be in the "traditional" school setting. Therefore, the Stevens Programs have been established to meet the needs of these students and to provide an educational program that is in the best interest of the student.

We understand that each student displays his/her unique qualities and should be assisted to develop this uniqueness in order for him/her to become a contributing member of society.

We feel it is essential for students to be assisted in the development of academics, behavior, personal responsibility, respect for others, and the ability to function in the school setting.
